0 APR Credit Cards

0 APR Credit Cards… Have You Heard About These Bad Boys?

0_apr_credit_cardsAlthough they have a reputation as a very handy item to have, 0 APR  credit cards also have certain disadvantages as well, as do all credit cards.

Consider this… borrowing a sum of money for the time being only to pay back a higher amount than what was originally borrowed.

That’s how credit cards work.

You don’t need to pay for the items you purchased until 30 days after the statement has arrived, meaning you can buy just about anything without having any money at hand.

0 APR Credit Cards Are Good… But Beware Of The Catch

Now one obvious downside to using a credit card is that there are subsequent charges that the card holder is bound to bear in exchange for using it. By delaying the payment or distributing payment over a particular duration, the card holder feels less pressure in paying as opposed to paying everything in full.

Although this makes payment easier, the card holder is actually paying more than the actual price of the item purchased. Using credit cards with standard APR will allow you to purchase items but you will still have to shoulder extra charges by the time you start paying the monthly dues.

For first time card holders, there are special offers that allow them to adjust to life using a credit card.

Some credit card companies issue credit cards with introductory low rates. Low APR credit cards are among the promotional products of credit card companies.

By omitting or lifting interest from monthly dues, the card holder only has to pay the real purchase value of an item. Finding the best low interest credit card will require some covert research, but just may be worth the effort.

However, 0 APR credit cards are usually short term special offers or promotions made by banks or credit card companies.

These special cards usually only stay this way for brief durations of at least 90 days however in some instances, the low interest rate can even be valid up to six months or even up to a whole year.

It should be noted though that although goods purchased can be paid for while not imposing extra charges or interest, once the introductory offer is gone, you will have to bear the standard APR of the credit card you are using.

Also, be careful when purchasing items.

Since most people who have these types of cards see the ease and comfort in using them, a lot fail to remember to keep the purchase at a moderated pace. As a result, a lot of people who hold 0 APR credit cards get shocked upon abolition or expiration of the introductory offer when they see the big digits reflecting on their billing statements.

Overall, 0 APR credit cards are amazing tools in purchasing items without having the need to worry about excessively high interest rates. It should be remembered that although you do not need to pay any interest, 0 APR credit cards can only be enjoyed for a brief period.
